$4,325,000 Products Liability
Our client, a man in his mid-fifties, suffered severe burns over 40% of his body when a machine malfunctioned, causing scalding
hot water to spray on our client. We sued the machine manufacturer, a component part manufacturer and the company that treated
the Lake Michigan water used to cool the machine. The case settled for $3,500,000. In addition, the workers' compensation insurance
company, waived a $1,100,000 workers' compensation lien, effectively making the settlement worth $4,325,000 to our client, since he
did not have to repay workers' compensation $825,000 for their lien rights under the Illinois Workers' Compensation Act.
