A wealthy drunk driver struck a 3 yr old girl on a bicycle ridden by her mother, fracturing the child's leg and hip. The girl required three surgeries. The drunk driver was arrested and pled guilty to aggravated DUI. The personal injury case against the drunk driver settled for $1,630,000 dollars for the minor child. $1,100,000 was paid by the drunk drivers' insurance company and the remaining $500,000 of the settlement paid out of pocket by the drunk driver.
